Repair and recovery

TB-500

Also known as Thymosin Beta-4 fragment, TB4

A synthetic fragment of thymosin beta-4, a naturally occurring protein studied for its role in cell migration and tissue repair.

What it is

TB-500 corresponds to the active region of thymosin beta-4, a 43-amino-acid protein found in most human cells and in wound fluid. The fragment is used in research because it retains the actin-binding sequence thought to drive the parent protein's activity while being far smaller and easier to synthesise.

What published research examines

  • Actin regulation and cell migration in culture
  • Angiogenesis and endothelial cell behaviour
  • Tissue repair models covering muscle, tendon and cornea
  • Inflammatory signalling alongside repair processes

Where the research stands

Most TB-500 work is preclinical. Human data largely concerns thymosin beta-4 itself rather than the synthetic fragment, so the two are usually read separately.
