Semax

A synthetic heptapeptide based on a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone, studied for its effects on neurotrophic signalling.
What it is
Semax is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide derived from the 4-10 fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone, with an additional short sequence added to improve stability. It was developed in Russia in the 1980s and is used clinically in some countries outside the United States.

Where the research stands
