Growth hormone axis

Ipamorelin

Also known as NNC 26-0161

A pentapeptide growth hormone secretagogue studied for its selectivity relative to earlier compounds in the class.

What it is

Ipamorelin is a five-amino-acid synthetic peptide that acts at the ghrelin receptor. Research interest has centred on selectivity: earlier secretagogues in this class also moved cortisol and prolactin in study models, and ipamorelin was developed and characterised against that problem.

What published research examines

  • Ghrelin receptor binding and selectivity profiling
  • Growth hormone release patterns in animal models
  • Cortisol and prolactin response compared with earlier secretagogues
  • Combination research with growth hormone releasing hormone analogues

Where the research stands

Ipamorelin was studied in early-phase human trials by its original developer, though development did not continue for that indication. Most available literature is preclinical.
